Piombo
English
Italiano
Faglia is an Italian music project blending dark wave, synth-pop and post-punk influences into a soundscape that feels atmospheric, layered and deeply evocative. Alongside their musical research, the trio shares a strong fascination with Brutalist aesthetics and the architectural imagery of Eastern Europe, references that have become an integral part of both their visual and sonic identity. This project is my personal reinterpretation of Piombo, the band's debut EP, developed with their approval and aimed at offering an alternative reading of the record through my own visual language.
The visual system emerges from the intersection of sound and materiality. At its core lies an isometric structure inspired by the essential forms of exposed concrete, a recurring motif that evokes construction, weight and permanence. Listening to the band's sharp, dry and atmospheric sound, I found myself drawing parallels with the physical presence of both concrete and lead, two materials defined by their density, mass and enduring character. Typography reinforces this narrative through a custom lettering system that resembles a molten substance slowly cooling and solidifying. The resulting identity includes a series of posters, vinyl packaging and a coordinated merchandising line, conceived as different expressions of a single visual language.
